Participating in Arkana - FTS is easy ! Just tell us what annoys you, what you want or what errors (bugs) you have encountered during the game.

Why would you do that for us ? Of course you should report a bug that annoys you and we will try to fix it as fast as possible, so that it doesn’t annoy you anymore. Also, if you have little (or big) ideas or suggestions, we may add them into Arkana - FTS, making the game even more fun and relaxing for you !

If this is not enough motivation, you need to know that everybody who reports a bug that can be confirmed (that really is one) or a feature/suggestion/idea that will make it into the game will have his name in the credits of the game, if he wants.

Nothing simpler then that. Hmm ok, there are things that are simpler, but let’s go on.

At the latest now, you should know if you want to report a bug or make a suggestion.

Go to the mantis bug tracker and create an account. Let me assure you that we won’t give away your data There should be no need for a confirmation e-mail thus you can login right after subscription. Now you need to click onto Report Issue, that should be the fourth item in the menu on the top.

You now need to choose which project your bug affects. That will most likely be the game (Arkana - FTS) itself, but it may also be the map editor for example.

Choose the section where your bug occurred. If you don’t know what to enter, leave this as the default.

You may now choose the reproducibility, the severity and the priority of the bug you report, but you should leave these fields at their default unless you know exactly what to choose there. We will adapt them anyway when looking at your report.

Then you have to enter a quick summary of the bug you want to report. Please try to be short but precise in your summary, this is a good example: “Game crashes when triple-clicking on a summoner while holding the left control key down”, in contrast to these two examples that are very bad: “game crashes when I play ! wtf !”.

Then enter a long, detailed, precise description of the bug you are reporting. A bad example would be “attacking a unit does not work”. You may ask why that is bad ? Because “does not work” means nothing to a programmer. Please tell us exactly what doesn’t work and what you expected. Also include any information on what you were doing. Your version of Arkana - FTS is also important for us. This is a good example:

When selecting any unit (tried with swordsmen, archer and mage), then right-clicking on an enemy unit
(tried with a merchant), the unit does not begin to attack the enemy, altough it seems to be
in the range of sight. I would expect it to move to the enemy and go attack it.
My version of Arkana - FTS is version 0.3.5.12345

The more information you put into this, the quicker we will be able to reproduce and hopefully fix it.

You may also add files to your post. A good file to add is the logfile and the replay of the game where this happened. You may also send a screenshot, if that is needed to show us the bug.

Finally, please check back often, as you don’t get an email on changes currently. We may need to ask you for more informations about your bug, thus make sure you check back from time to time as long as your bug is not confirmed.

Go to our forum's section for making your suggestions. If you have no account yet, you should create one. When logged in, you can just create a new thread and tell us your idea.

We recommend you to choose an useful title, such as “idea to ease the resource collection” rather then titles that say nothing, like “GREAT new idea for you !!!11”. The latter one may not get much attention.

If you have a very specific suggestion that is very detailed (for example you propose to have the chat editbox a little shorter), you may directly report them in the mantis bug tracker if you want. This is the same as reporting a bug, just that you select “feature” or “tweak” as severity.
